HCL has a professed philosophy of EFCS (Employee First, Customer Second): keep your employees happy and they'll make the customer happy. Absurd budgeting mechanisms and rigid top-down management make it impossible to follow through on that admirable goal. There is no corporate "bench" to speak of, and managers are not allowed to make hiring and firing decisions. I was given two weeks' notice five days before my contract ended, and right in the middle of the holiday season, despite the fact that 3 teams had expressed interest in interviewing me. They implemented solutions always with an eye to increasing the customer's dependence on their services.

1. Very Low salary hike in some of the projects (at least in my project). 2. Very opaque policies, who constantly try to prove that they are transparent. 3. Full of politics (you're safe till the higher level colleagues don't find you as a competition for them). 4. Very strange reasons for bad appraisals. 5. Appraisal is never dependent on your performance and contribution to team. 6. HR are really very slow. Even to receive your own money you need to wait for minimum 1 month.
