Pros

They get a lot of work and they are trying to change from body shop to service integrator. If you are looking for an operations type job where you do what you are asked to and then go home and get a paycheck at the end of the month, it might be a good place for you.

Cons

They get their business by undercutting their competition (other Indian companies) and cannot pay good salaries. All HCL America management is from India who did not live and work in the US for long and do not understand US business culture and business practices creating a huge gap between them and any American employees. From ethics, to pay scales, to organization and structure to being proactive and generally they do not know how to manage an American employee, look at the overall picture and set long term goals. Management will keep promising career advancements and push their direct work responsibilities to you and they will let you sit on the table with them if you are good at your job but never let you lead. In general talent will be identified but not rewarded and advanced. They have some sharp guys from India in their management but they lack experience in trying to work as an end-to-end management services Vs managing bodies on a T&M model. Expect to send multiple email reminders to HR and administrative services to get a simple thing done and apparently this is normal business practice in India so do not bother complaining about it, just keep sending 'kind reminders to do the needful...'

Pros

None. Possibly perennial work if you are in Infra tech

Cons

There are a couple of comments I would like to make here and possibly warn future employees who plan to take up Account sales roles with HCLTech especially in the MegaLT group headed by Ajay Bahl. 1. The Account Manager role while proclaimed as a Sales role is actually an administrative and micro operations role with minimal sales responsibilities. HCLTech has exceptionally poor internal processes and the Account Manager bears the brunt of resolving innumerable change requests, legal signatures, document revisions etc. The workload consumes 8-10 hours per day working with broken internal sales processes and departments 2. The Account manager is expected to wine and dine clients and surprisingly use their personal credit card to pay the bills and get it reimbursed. The claims process is dismal and frequently takes very long lead times and numerous rejections before you get your money back. They have a policy of not issuing Corporate Cards which is highly surprising. 3.Ever heard of an Organization with no leave policy ? Yes, account managers do not have a leave policy. Even a days sick leave needs a verbal or written approval from your Manager who typically is highly unreliable and upredictable. 4. Nepotism and a lack of a merit oriented performance system. HCLTech has a poor record of choosing clients and typically service the companies who were previously rejected by other IT service companies If you are looking for a sales role, I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

Pros

I honestly don’t see many advantages. At best, leveraging the HCL name could serve as a stepping stone for other opportunities.

Cons

My experience with this company has been extremely disappointing. The HR team is lazy and unresponsive, often failing to reply to emails or address concerns. The managers are no better, showing little to no accountability. The hiring process is a nightmare—disorganized, lacking communication, and frustrating at every step. To make matters worse, once your project ends, they leave you with no options, effectively forcing you out of the company. This lack of job security and professionalism is alarming. I wouldn’t recommend working here to anyone.
