No advancement opportunities if you are not from India
Pros
They get a lot of work and they are trying to change from body shop to service integrator. If you are looking for an operations type job where you do what you are asked to and then go home and get a paycheck at the end of the month, it might be a good place for you.
Cons
They get their business by undercutting their competition (other Indian companies) and cannot pay good salaries. All HCL America management is from India who did not live and work in the US for long and do not understand US business culture and business practices creating a huge gap between them and any American employees. From ethics, to pay scales, to organization and structure to being proactive and generally they do not know how to manage an American employee, look at the overall picture and set long term goals. Management will keep promising career advancements and push their direct work responsibilities to you and they will let you sit on the table with them if you are good at your job but never let you lead. In general talent will be identified but not rewarded and advanced. They have some sharp guys from India in their management but they lack experience in trying to work as an end-to-end management services Vs managing bodies on a T&M model. Expect to send multiple email reminders to HR and administrative services to get a simple thing done and apparently this is normal business practice in India so do not bother complaining about it, just keep sending 'kind reminders to do the needful...'
