Pros

Compensation is fair. Especially for junior engineers and women.

Cons

But managers and reviews can be very biased. At many levels there is not supervision from the next level leaving it open for harassment.

Pros

Good for person to start the career . In past I have worked with some of the best peers and managers in my career here and have learned a lot. I have great respect for T2id which is the torch bearer of the Knowledge in HCL.

Cons

Performance evaluation lacks obectivity and there is disparity in terms of salary in same band/designation. Senior Management lacks the ablility to evaluate the techncal skill of the people. So there is lack of transparency in the Appraisal process and suddenly you see those people getting promotion who did not make difference to Client, reportee or the Company in any way. In short senior management does not know the difference between knowldege , skill and solution is is a bird which is flying far away. CEO Mr Vineet Nayyar is one man crusading to make HCL better place but Company will really change if Senior Management can change. I have seen the people at the lower level changing, but the people from Project manager to various flavors of the General Managers have one common skill set that is People Management which does not augur well for company as whole in long run. The result is purely bunch of Cost cutting managers who are concerned about profitablity of the project and cannot mentor their team or dont even know where they are heading in life.
