Pros

Good reference for resume. Decent pay and benefits.

Cons

First, I must confess that I was warned by former employees to stay away from GT. After five months, everything I was told was confirmed. I stayed for a total of 10 months. Simply too many issues to list. Lots of turnover. People were constantly leaving after being on the job for just a few weeks or months. There was lots of lies, chaos/deadlines, lack of structure and planning. Minimal training was provided. Leadership team cared more about billing than the retainment, development and success of the members of the team. Team supervisors, managers and some associates were very weak in knowledge; however, we did not question them because we were thrown under the bus or labeled as incompetent. You had to put everything in writing for reference from a CYA perspective. Sharing with team leaders made you the target of the management team. HR was no help at all. It was as a trained mouth piece for the management team. Bottomline: Take a job with this organization with the goal of it being short term employment only, if you have to. Trust no one and watch for the signs and get out as quick as possible.

Pros

Nice office and amenities. Several company happy hours and holiday parties. GT as a firm is very culturally diverse and inclusive.

Cons

The immigration practice group is very much a department where your success depends on how well you are liked by attorneys. There is blatant favoritism which is why titles and promotions are handed out to people who threaten to quit, not because they deserve it. Attorney responsiveness is a joke. If you thrive in a sink or swim environment where no one is set up for success, then this is the place for you. The turn over rate is astounding and communication is severely lacking leading to un-needed escalations and good workers being the victims of malicious gossip. Certain people consistently throw others under the bus in order to look better or get in with upper management’s good graces. Save your soul and mental health and just look elsewhere

Pros

The staff is the best, some of which are now life long friends. They are extremely hardworking and loyal.

Cons

GT has no regard for their staff. Benefits, including profit sharing, were all cut while I worked there. Attorneys treat staff as servants. The managers of the firm all discuss how "you're only as good as what you last did for someone". There is no mentoring for staff, senior management doesn't have your back, and the chiefs of the firm have no clue what's going on with the staff in the local offices. New attorneys come in being told they can operate as they always have, the only that changes is the logo and where their check comes from, which creates a lot of competition among existing attorneys. There is just no cohesiveness. GT is known as a sweat shop!
