Pros

No real accountability. Individuals or managers screw up in their jobs or don't get things done, and it doesn't matter. Do your own thing. Good paid time off and sick leave. Excellent matching 401(a) plan. Remote work WAS a great benefit, but not anymore.

Cons

If you're someone with drive, you're going to be frustrated. I used to take on additional responsibility and projects, but learned drive is futile. There is no advancement path for existing employees. Pay is stagnant, has been for years, only way to make more is leave for another job. “Cachet” of working at GT doesn’t pay the bills. Now, USG is requiring all employees to work in office FIVE DAYS, but space is short, desks they offer is 24" x 36" with 18" thin divider between desks, crammed in, hoteling, noisy. Cold/flu/covid breeding ground, about like a bad call center. Due to lack of space, waivers for now, but as they find space EVERYONE will have to commute to downtown ATL or be terminated. USG HR told us in no uncertain terms when transition was announced, an offer letter specifying remote position is not binding, is not an "employment contract", so basically, tough luck, sucker. And we'll be paying ~$1K of our salary back to GT for a campus parking permit...IF you can get an on-campus spot, pay more if commercial parking. So glad I went with the matching 401(a) retirement plan, can walk away with good bit of money vested, I have my escape plan.
