Great place to work with a few cons

Pros

Gorgeous, well-maintained campus in a great location surrounded by lots of things to do and interesting restaurants. Free food every week at a lot of different events. Staff are usually very kind and excited about what they do. Students are smart and accomplishing great things - which is something anyone who works here can be proud of. Benefits with both USG and GT are fantastic. Flexible scheduling!

Cons

For such an established school, I was surprised at the lack of organization within my department. It's annoying to come from a place with best practices and established methods of accomplishing things to a place where everyone is running around and you can't get an answer from anyone. Parking if you work in the middle of campus is frustrating - I have to park near the stadium and walk because I, unfortunately, started working here after permits were released. There are three parking lots closer to my building, but no spots were available. It's also super expensive at almost $800/year, and then if a spot in your preferred location becomes available, you have to pay to switch! On top of paying almost $800! At my previous school, it was $15/year total.

Great place to work if you love research

Pros

If you love conducting research, Georgia Tech is a great place to be. It's a research machine. It's highly reputable, and you'll meet lots of highly capable professionals.

Cons

If you're staff and don't have a PhD, you feel like you're a step down from faculty. It's pretty classist in that way. Even if you have a PhD, it's still a pretty competitive place to be.
