Pros

Paid holidays, continuing education options, decent benefits, nice facilities, fitness facilities available

Cons

After working for a small division of GA for 3 years I saw my fair share of sexist management that hires women based on their looks, mid-level management that has no idea what they are doing, harassment of employees, hazing from managers, unethical manufacturing practices, HR department that does nothing, top management that acts like 15 year old teenagers, environment where taking responsibility for actions is not encouraged, misappropriation of labor and funds, lack of follow through with anything, band aid solution after band aid solution, destruction of quality records/files, and favoritism. In the second week of my employment, I was told to "up manage" my direct supervisor by top management. I'll just let that thought simmer. In addition to these things happening, no one at my division actually had a job title that reflected the job that they did. There were people leading teams and involved with production of clinical chemistry reagent, but they were referred to as "Biotechnicians". At any other biotech company, this would be a Scientist I/Manufacturer I or II/Process Engineer position. Job descriptions throughout the group were vague which basically allowed management to tell you to do anything from handling a customer audit to testing materials to cleaning the floors. The pay is a joke. As a college graduate with a BS, multiple years of experience, and a full-time 40 hours a week job, I should not have to contemplate the idea of taking on a second job to pay my basic bills. Shame on GA for not paying fair market value for their employees.

Pros

Decent benefits, new rec center (though likely too small to keep up with the number of employees if the company continues to grow), onsite cafeteria

Cons

Very poor communication. Infrastructure not keeping up with company growth or technology. Low salaries for the industry, especially for younger engineers and administrative staff. Sexist old boys club with a YES MAN culture that limits creativity and forward thinking. Lack of work/life balance (9/80 work schedule, but lots of travel in engineering and frequent mandatory uncompensated overtime). Very little focus on people which fosters resentment and results in less motivated employees. Little interest and even less money allocated for employee development. Yearly reviews are an exercise of managerial favoritism and mandated bell curves (probably typical for any aerospace/defense company, but the system at GA is particularly awful, I think because there's no transparency in job expectations or what the reviews really mean). Raises are low. Narrow minded management within engineering. Engineering is micromanaged from a certain VP's office. Lack of well defined policies and procedures make it hard to get work done.
