Pros

The only "pro" would be that you get half off full-priced merchandise. However, if I was someone who didn't work there, it's actually cheaper to wait for the items to go on clearance, and use an additional percentage off.

Cons

-It's very training-intensive, however, I was not scheduled until three weeks after I completed my "training." When asked why I didn't know where certain things went on the floor, I was reprimanded, even though it was my first "real," shift. -I voiced that I did not want to work the cash-wrap, and I would much prefer to stock/unstock, because I am physically able to do so. I was repeatedly put on cash-wrap, regardless. -I was reprimanded for not folding the jeans correctly, even though in the training, I was never showed how to properly fold anything at all. -They have a very, very high turnover rate. -The pay sucks. 25 cents over minimum wage, no. -The GapCard. That's all.

Pros

The only perk is the Employee Discount. 50%-off at Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy. As much as I hated working there I appreciated the cheap clothing.

Cons

The management team is incompetent. Way too micromanaging to make ANY employee happy. Insufficient training allows for employees to get in trouble for rule infractions they were not warned against. My interview was so misleading, the Store Manager was cheerful and smily bringing me to believe this was a joyful workplace. To my surprise, the woman NEVER smiled or even talked to hourly employee's during when in the work place. If I had known working for the GAP was going to be so stifling I would not have accepted the offer. There is no room for personality or minor creative freedom. I am extremely disappointed with my experience working for the GAP. I expected more from a company that puts up a great public face.

Pros

ROWE - recently launched HR program that focuses on business results versus facetime in the office - allows flexible working arrangement. Exposure to leadership - if you are an individual contributor, you get opportunity to present to upper mgmt which builds your communication skillset Vacation - 4 wks of vacation every year! Opportunity to spiderweb - flexibility to move into various roles in the organization

Cons

Politics - company is very political and there is lots of favoritism. People get promoted who have track record of being horrible mgrs but have kissed assed to upper mgmt. Lack of leadership - given lackluster results, lots of leadership spin and lack of guidance. Leadership is so focused on week to week sales which is no longer making the job fun. Sometimes can be a very directive culture versus empowering culture. Pay - pay is subpar and once you are in, challenging to increase your pay even if you get promoted (usually 10% increase) Not motivating environment - given all the above reason, morale is low and employees are not engaged.
