Pros

Product set is fantastic, and the challenges are great. Some of the people working there are super smart and want to take on the challenges. These are the people that are getting dissapointed and dissillusioned by the rest. The IT team there is fantastic, although they do not have enough engagement with the business, and this is a key area for improvement across departments.

Cons

Management culture is one of fear and stagnation. One would hope that the new Operations CEO Christophe Weber will put some rocket fuel in and also loose some of the dead-wood. They look like a potential Nokia with many of their current management staff. Managing by looking upwards to what they consider management expectations rather than downwards to what is actually happening on the ground is a critical issue. Real growth will come form emerging markets, and profitability from moving production from Belgium to overseas. Also remove the 'scientific' approach in management, to a more business based approach will be key.

Pros

Flexibility, work from home (or remotely), most managers are not constantly over your shoulders, pretty good pay and benefits.

Cons

Due to flexibility very difficult to meet people face2face. Lot of CYA type activities due to matrix type organization. Sometimes I do not see my manager for weeks, this could be good and bad. Things that used to take 4 weeks at a smaller company, take about 2 to 3 months here because it's tough to get people together. Expect to work long hours and odd hours as parts of you team may be based all over the world and thus, late evenings for Australia meetings and Early AM for UK meetings. Management impliments processes without input from the folks who actually have to live with it. A lot of Knee Jerk Reactions. People are over worked.
