Pros

Insurance benefits are awesome, covers full maternity journey.

Cons

- Expects employees to work till wee hours but not compensated for the efforts. - Employees are easily disposable. - New CEO came in and started firing exercise in a discrete manner, rather than outright indicating that it is a restructuring exercise.

Pros

Trauma bonding with some of the nicest and hardest working people.

Cons

Avoid and heed every single warning on here about this shambles of a company who have been around since 1998 and are still completely inept at understanding the market they operate in. This is a company who are set up to fail from the top down. They claim to be market leaders but they are absolutely delusional. Your work is based on ridiculous KPIs, you can spend hours if not days working on projects only for a client to turn around and say the project is closed or paused. The hours of work you put in are then completely redundant. This happened multiple times a day/week, even if you do find amazing experts more often than not the client will pass these names on to cheaper and more efficient competitors leaving you with nothing. Having GLG on your CV means absolutely nothing, skills aren’t transferrable as you are essentially working in a glorified cold calling centre. There is little to no understanding from the top down on how hard it is to complete hours of work only for the client to drop out and for you to have to explain why you’re not meeting KPIs. Managers are clueless and the team you get assigned to will make or break you. Everyone is out for themselves and if you can be thrown under the bus you will be by team leaders. Everything stinks of incompetence in every area of this company. The false sense of importance GLG possesses is laughable. No paid over time even if it means working 2/3 extra to accommodate overseas clients. Be prepared to be chained to your desk in order to survive here. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Friday huddles are just a chance to play the “we’re all happy to be here” card but the atmosphere is toxic times ten.

Pros

Connection to senior leaders. NY office is pretty swanky.

Cons

This is a company that has no moral compass. Senior leaders are rude and careless with their words. One key manager talked about how abortion is bad for the man. There is really no professional development as the skills you learn here are not transferable to any real investment job. The company has a track record of doing really shady stuff on the compliance side. It’s got a huge bro culture and terrible with diversity.

GLG Response

We’re sorry to hear you had such a negative experience. GLG’s compliance framework is the gold standard in the industry. For many clients, our compliance program and systems are among the main reasons they choose to do business with us and not our competitors. It’s a core component of our culture. The same is true for diversity at GLG. GLG’s seven Diversity Networks include more than 600 employees around the world. The Human Rights Campaign has awarded GLG as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality” for the past two years. In 2021, our Chief Diversity Officer Desiree Dancy was named one of the top 100 Diversity Officers in the U.S. by the National Diversity Council. We’ve also made significant progress in terms of hiring, making sure our recruiters have additional resources and better access to diverse talent pools. We are troubled to read about the insensitive comments described in your post. This is the first we’re hearing of it. Under no circumstances does GLG tolerate that behavior. We have numerous escalation points whereby employees can report such conduct. And we encourage you to contact our People Team members so we can properly investigate.
