A Solid Company

Pros

I've been with GLG for more than five years and a few things have stood out to me during that time: - It's a meritocracy. If you demonstrate you're capable, committed, and willing to work hard you're going to get more responsibility. - The level of transparency is incredible. Management's commitment to communicate company performance, projections, and strategic plan is pretty incredible. Not something you see in companies of this size. - GLG has committed itself to taking care of its people during these uncertain times. The company transitioned to WFH pretty seamlessly and, rather than just let everyone grind away, took a lot of steps to ensure employees were managing okay.

Cons

Currently you can't take advantage of one of the biggest perks: the offices. There's been a lot of change. And while that can be stressful, the changes all seem to be for the better.

Pros

Co-workers, great views from the office, free coffee, casual dress code.

Cons

Long hours with the expectation that you will continue to respond to clients until 9:30pm and on weekends. No parking, they only reimburses a partial amount for garages downtown that doesn’t come close to the full amount. Metrics heavy even when the metrics can seem unrealistic given clients propensity to cancel projects on a whim leaving your hard work unaccounted for. Unlimited PTO is not actually unlimited. This is a recruiting job. Any position in client services is all about recruiting and recruiting the best candidate in a very small window of time. Hardly any actual client development, that is all handled by BD.

Pros

Monthly Team builder activities. Free coffee and prison food on Tuesdays. Happy hours on Fridays.

Cons

Intense pressure to perform with little advisement. You have a one week crash course into this company/role and you either sink or swim. They will only give to attention if you're a top performer. You're not provided all the tools to succeed. No plan in place for people struggling. If you contact management, depending who you go to they will give you a quick 5 min tip or just never follow up with you. They promote young employees that have no clue how to lead. All about numbers. Job is halfway luck no mater how much you put into it. Absolutely no consideration is given if you don't meet the numbers or your calls get canceled out of your control. You are just a number here. They hire ten people a week to replace you.
