Pros

Great and young coworkers to be around

Cons

The company went entirely downhill over the three years I was there. Constant restructuring in attempts to fix the leaks on an already sinking business has lead to constant dissatisfaction amongst employees and targets that are unattainable. Middle management at GLG is completely useless and unaware of how the work feels for individual contributors as the landscape of the work and role have shifted in the last few years. The executive team are filled with incompetent individuals who are totally out of touch. It’s clear that the company is just looking to sell at some point or merge with a competitor, and has consistently tried to become more lean to make that happen. GLG is a company where your work ethic does not matter, and neither do your past results. You’ll be put in scenarios where goals are unattainable despite any amount of effort and be at fault for it. The work itself is meaningless and tiresome, and the company does zero to reward or motivate anybody. Upwards mobility is entirely luck based depending on the account you’re hired on, and you will likely never even get a shot at a people-management position as you can’t even really work your way up anymore. There’s an enormous focus to be “phone-first” despite those actions clearly being a waste of time most of the time, and the job has become a glorified call center type role. Work life balance had gotten much worse- went from 2 days in office to 4 (and probably 5 soon) with expectations to monitor and respond to emails for over 12 hours a day (8:30 am to 9 pm) and also on weekends.
