Pros

opportunities to talk to sophisticated professionals opportunity to grow within the company can learn a host of soft skills in addition to time management & project execution great co-workers aesthetically nice work environment

Cons

a pretty numbing and mindless job leadership is phony and bent on branding GLG with no employee buy in once you learn the skills needed, you'll plateau and senior tenured employees basically do the same work as junior associates high attrition bad work life balance, expect to set up projects at night and on weekends

Pros

GLG is extremely fast-paced and as a result you really get a sense of buzz in the everyday working life. Hours are intense but work life balance is good compared to other finance/consulting type roles. Management in EMEA has a clear direction of where the business unit is headed and the engagement team structure allows this to be communicated down well as well as making the teams feel engaged and that they have a say in the direction/growth of the company. True meritocracy and high performance is rewarded with v. good pay. Opportunity to own client relationships relatively early in career and to lead people.

Cons

Benefits to London employees are quite basic at the moment but I hear that these are being reviewed this year. New HR team making a real difference. Lots of internal meetings despite a determination to reduce them. For those that aren’t treating each project as a chance to learn then they really don’t get as much out of the job as can get. There are people here who have been with the company for 8-9+ years and still clearly enjoy working here. Some inconsistency in performance of Team Leaders.

GLG Response

I certainly agree with you about the sense of buzz at GLG – in every office I’ve visited. But where I agree most is that working at GLG, and at any job really, is most fulfilling when every single project is treated as a chance to learn. Thanks for your feedback regarding benefits, which – you’re right – are constantly being reviewed by my team (and thank you for complimenting our work as well!)
