Pros

There is a perception that GE is the place to work as they have good quality products…So the only good reason is to have the GE name on your resume as others on the outside think GE develops great talent.

Cons

Everything at GE Healthcare is an emergency and has to be done NOW!! So in turn what this means is there is NO work life balance, NO proactive planning, NO chance at doing your job as you will spend more time doing power point presentations on your lack of progress because you are spending all your time power pointing rather than doing your job.

Pros

Excellent managerial opportunities throughout the company. Hundreds of departments spread throughout the country, and an excellent place to develop a career. Great reputation in business. Great benefits package.

Cons

As a medical device company, GE Healthcare is outstanding. As a medical software company, GE Healthcare is unimpressive in quality, and myopic in vision. It can be disheartening to work on software that only exists because of the clout of its brand name. GE Healthcare is contributing little to the clinical software industry, buying up companies without regard for their ability to maintain the product post-acquisition. Consequently, development is slow, products are outdated, and turnover is high. Pay and raises are mediocre.

Pros

It's a huge company with a lot of products, plenty of opportunities to learn about how not do do things.

Cons

Shareholder-led, quarter-to-quarter decision making. The company always does what's needed to satisfy the analysts, not what's actually the right thing. Every time GE has a bad quarter, or even a decent quarter, the company locks down the hatches, cuts bonuses, restricts travel and pares back annual raises...yet somehow they always manage to construct a booth the size of a city block at tradeshows. In addition to the above, GE has a terribly overblown opinion of its own ability to execute. GE ain't that good at process, folks, no matter how many books have been written on the topic.
