Pros

Strong Company and fine division and excellent product. Product that sets the bar in medical imaging.

Cons

Excess levels of management that do not understand what the field reps do. Young sales reps that don"t know product. Downfall of hiring young managers outside of company rather than promote from within as years past. Many unqualified "JMO" young managers. Let a good manager stay if they desire and not force a move out after 2 years. Many young managers just put in time to move on and leave a trend of problems behind caused by ego "I am the manager attitude". Managers need time to be hands on with local area. To many unproductive meetings for managers.

Pros

GE can be a good place to work, especially early in one's career, as having GE on your resume adds some credibility. It is a culture that fosters honest feedback, which is hard to come by at some companies.

Cons

You really have to be able to push back on your boss when overloaded here. Many employees have a horrible work/life balance, and get burned out quickly. There is definitely a culture of CYA here, since lots of people get fired, and everyone is always looking for scapegoats.

Pros

- There are a lot of talented, experienced people. You can learn a lot here. - Because the parent company is so huge, it opens up possibilities at other locations and in different job functions. - There is a program in place for employee evaluation. - At this location, there is an attempt to build comradery through various activities such as golfing and family fun days. - You will work on an interesting product that saves lives. - A pension plan, which you stay in even after you leave, as long as you are there long enough.

Cons

You might expect fantastic benefits because it is a large company. If you are considering working for this employer, be aware of some points: - Health insurance premiums are based on your salary. The more you make, the more you pay, up to a certain point. - Paid time off is low to start with (2 weeks per year). You will be working many years before you get more paid time off. There is also personal time available, but it is at the manager's discretion. - Relocation is not incredibly generous, depending on the "level" you are at. Don't plan on help with house sale or purchase, temporary housing, or shipment of vehicles. - No profit sharing, and no stock purchase plan. Nothing really beyond your base salary with regard to direct monetary compensation. Some additional points: - If procedures and signature gathering is not your thing, this is probably not the place for you. Adherence to procedures is critical because it is a regulated industry (e.g. FDA). - Minor things such as spotty computer support and a "take care of yourself" onboarding approach, add to a feeling that the place does not have the tight, organized corporate structure you'd expect, and that support for employees is less important than the "bottom line".
