      Good place to start & learn but long term VERY strong political currents blow good folks to the side

      Pros

      Learning and Training opportunities. Global mindset. Interesting technologies as well as strong technical challenges. Conglomerate company benefits and paid advanced education.

      Cons

      Exceptionally strong politics and managerial tactics abound. People are truly treated as cogs in a masssive wheel with little consideration of the persons. Many folks spend more time playing political games versus focus on customer, product and performance. Thin skinned people need not apply as many sharks swim in the waters here.

      Pros

      There are opportunities in all facets of GE Healthcare. If I wanted to achieve something, there would be a number of opportunities to go after. The best way to achieve that, however, was not always communicated.

      Cons

      Mgmt is based upon the bottom line. Many wasted hours were spent determining budgets to split out a business so those managers could get paid, only to move those budgets later. Training was next to nothing - I wanted to maintain my CPA but spent almost my entire year there trying to get approval to maintain my certification.

      Good place to start a career.

      Pros

      GE Healthcare is great place to start as a young engineer. There are many opportunities for compensation for education expenses and my managers have been understanding when I need to take leave for an exam. The medical benefits are very good and the salary is very competitive, especially given the current economic environment. If you do a good job you can be assured of your job security. The projects I have worked on have been rewarding, which keeps work from becoming monotonous. I actually enjoy coming to work most days.

      Cons

      Because it is a big company, it is easy to get lost in the crowd as you scale the corporate ladder. I did not think location would be an issue, but Waukesha, WI gets really cold in the winter!
