Pros

- Nice working conditions: modern office; good infrastructure; flexible hours and home working opportunities; flexible benefit packages - Interesting products with the warm and fuzzy feeling of advancing healthcare - Many excellent people, good workplace atmosphere - Easy to maintain a healthy work-life balance

Cons

- Frequent dead ends resulting in dumped work products - OpMech combines the worse part of agile and enterprise development - Career advancements are tend to be more of a political issue than professional - People managers are powerless or in some cases outright incompetent

Pros

Seemingly lots of opportunity for movement within the company. Great benefits, best salaries in the area

Cons

No security at all. For the past 10 years there have been lay offs every other month. GE healthcare absolutely does not value their existing talent pool, always looking for the next shiny object. Four of us from my team were just laid off while the entire office is getting new Herman Miller chairs. Senior managers manage up, no care for lower employees. Middle managers are evidently not empowered to make any business decisions. No one complains due to fear of losing job.

Pros

GE is obviously a large company. As such, there are opportunities for growth and and many geographic areas for relocation.

Cons

One can never have a sense of security. For the past 4 years there have been rounds of layoffs. Job performance or years of service mean nothing, you could easily become victim to a reduction in force. Its a year to year existence in this company. Budgets are adjusted and jobs are lost. As executive leadership changes, and it changes often, new execs look to make a name for themselves and cuts are made. It's a dangerous game for employees.
