Pros

Air conditioning and heating in the office building, there are coffee makers. Office building has a roof and four walls. Some windows.

Cons

Skype Business doesn’t work, they rely on Excel for any analytical work, you can’t get a Matlab or Tableau license because it’s too “expensive”, every engineer that mentors you is 60+ and spends 20 mins a day with you and has zero interest, all the older engineers complain all day about Millenials, when you take a new role no one trains you or passes any information on how to do your job, they will expand your role exponentially without any pay raise, senior engineers have gone 3 years without a raise, PB and Lead engineers on average get 2% raise while executives get 100k bonuses, cash flow has been decreased by deals made by executives at top, horrible actualization in business, stock price is low, morale is low, commercial is moving tons of engineers to military without regard to future development, employees are seen as “just employees” and not talent, there’s no efforts to automate or invest in Google-like machine learning stuff, no rest and recreation areas, Executives are asked to identify poor employees in public, managers berate employees in public in front of peers, budgets are unrealistic to force scarcity, SEC investigation. Very little diversity. Almost no women and ones that are there are forced into business operations and never promoted.

Pros

Great personal challenges and experience training for better companies. Ge has many talented and dedicated employees that will guide you thru a mentoring program that will enable you for a career growth outside GE.

Cons

GE Benefits are sub-standard and expensive. GE uses self-funded healthcare as a profit center from their employees. Leadership has become fixated on personal careers and have sacrificed employee health and satisfaction for personal needs.

Pros

Big, you can hide if that is your desire. If you desire a traditional management position, i.e. 1960s, this is a good place.

Cons

Experience of most engineers at GE is limited to very specific areas with little understanding of end customer requirements. They tend to be inflexible with little value to outside markets. Warning! If you are planning to come into GE from the outside, don't! It does not matter if you are a world authority, you will be ignored. GE does not invent, they buy. They tend to be 20 years behind the industry and are extremely risk adverse. This serves the commercial aircraft market well, but inhibits competition in noncommercial aviation markets.
