Pros

Decent pay but not worth it

Cons

I have never experienced a more toxic workplace. Everyone is completely burnt out and management treats you like trash. Every manager is also an extreme micro manager. They expect you to work like a machine, on nights and weekends too. Vacation is “unlimited” so good luck getting your manager to approve. And they will except that you are available on vacation.

Pros

The pay is/was great!! There were some with no college making high salaries. If you are part of the popular "club", you're golden. Bonus if you're are good at exaggerated self promotion. You can also come in, do your work, stay out of politics, and get your paycheck. Don't expect to get grade increases though, but if you're happy to lay low, you'll be fine.

Cons

Office politics, constant irrational change, job security. The HR department is absolutely disconnected from the workers, they have zero clue what anyone does there. You will only/should only ever interact with them if you are about to be terminated. Do not ever contact them for any reason at all, nothing you tell them is confidential and will get public fast.

Pros

I used to be excited about the job now I’m not so it’s hard for me to find any positives.

Cons

GE recently implemented mandatory billing by each salary employee to bill 1800 hours to programs. What this means is if you have overhead for training or meetings that aren’t built to a program or even paid time off you have to make up the time or you could just take no time off and have about three weeks of training and meeting time available to you. While others in the industry are going with the 9/80 schedule, GE has just gone with a 10/90. What they need to do is eliminate some of the middle management that we’re paying for that don’t bill to programs and it would free people up and give them a better work life balance, which GE likes to claim we have..
