Cons

You must have blinders on to work here. You must do what your are told. You can not have a voice, or they will create a false narrative and have you fired. I was an advocate for every GE employee and I was fired because of it. Tim G, created a fake report of hearsay. No verbal warning, no written warning, just suspension. I raised a retaliation concern with corporate but they too, are corrupt. Such a shame that Larry Culps mission statement in ignored. Just the opposite. They encourage retaliation to the fullest. - Do not work for GE ever, save yourself from disappointment. They will never side with you and if you're a threat, (Which I was) they will keep you from moving up in the company. They will try every which way to keep you down. Hourly Employees work their butts off, with zero bonuses. The PB band and up gets a bonus from the hourly employees hard work, which is not fair. I tried to get bonuses for us, but they saw me as a threat. Also Safety is not first with GE. They will take months to fix a problem that causes harm to the hourly employees. One when to the hospital. Their motto is, if its costs money do not fix it. It has been proven over and over that this is the case. Also, do not use Yammer. Its a GE forum of every single employee and my posts became legendary. They saw me as a whistle blower and needed me gone. They found a way, illegally. Unjustified termination; with a false narrative. I started at $22hr in 2019, ended @ $25.37 2023. About $0.84 cents a year average. Things not to do 1. Talk / speak your mind. 2. Report safety concerns to the Ombudsman. 3. Post on yammer when you do not get answers from your site. 4. Do not work for GE, there are MUCH higher paying jobs than GE. They give pennies for raises. $0.57 cents, $0.14 cents.

Pros

Benefits, flex time, 401k, fellow technicians

Cons

Destruction of teaming due to poor site lead, EHS and Human Resources departments. Current site lead has consistently eroded teaming away with countless "A Decisions" instead of following teaming and allowing the team members to govern themselves. Regularly tries to bypass the site's manual. This is a flat organization and no one is above anyone here except for the plant leader. The Human Resources department at this site thinks they are above teaming and are the bosses. They consistently will disregard what teams say and will argue when a team has come up with decisions. The EHS department (non-tech) tries to backdoor decisions made from teams when they disagree with their ridiculous, over the top, policies they try to implement. If they cant successfully back door, they go directly to plant manager to have him make an "A Decision" to support them. It is also believed that they will put in safety concerns to support their agenda. Saab is hiring soon... look there!

Pros

Interesting technical work which can be professionally rewarding. Great non domestic opportunities (likely limited future opportunities for US based employees-would recommend a service based career for younger generation that can not be outsourced).

Cons

No transparency regarding salary levels (salary ranges vs. levels not published or available). Allows company to discriminate; this will likely become an issue w/ younger generation b/c they do share salaries w/ each other! To get ahead don't need to be accountable, prove work has significant impact, or handle significant workload; just be good with the corporate "buzz words". To climb just keep changing jobs every 2 yrs (your mistakes or lack of action will not be apparent- in GE talk, keep pivoting).
