Pros

Pay is decent relative to the market. I'm sure you'll make it far if you are a total a-hole with no people skills.

Cons

The technology part of the company dropped about 70% of it's workforce in about 2 years, yet it still can't make a profit. Don't expect raises to be consistent with your performance, as budget constraints still lock them into flat raises across the board. Obviously the product is not profitable. Weak management and poorly-written, never-enforced policies and procedures result in expletive-laden fights. Upper management doesn't enforce rules or professionalism, so middle management runs amuck. Many people are doing the work of two people since the contraction, so stress is high and counterproductive. It's getting to be commonplace that people are made to run out of the office crying because of unregulated mean-spirited managers. The atmosphere is poison. HR has paid no attention to the droves of exiting employees. Yet another example of weakness in management of the Burlington office. Engineers are in high demand in this area. It's pretty easy to find a happier place to work.

Pros

G4S is one of the largest security firms in the world, and in the USA. They have numerous different post you may work at, and transferring from one to another is a definite possibility. It seems fairly easy to get hired as a security officer. The pay depends on the post, but G4S often pays a little better than other security providers. The work is usually not difficult. It's a good job for retirees and for students generally, but it all depends on the post and the hours you work, not to mention your supervisor.

Cons

It's a job and not a career. You will get paid anywhere from $8.50 to $12 an hour. If you are a supervisor you will make a little more than the others, of course. The benefits are weak, but they do have something available for health, life insurance, and vacation. When you start they will most likely tell you the post you will work, the pay, as well as your hours. I was wide open when I started, so it could be different for you, but I'm sure that they prefer people with good availability. If you have great experience, but a restricted schedule it may prevent you from being hired. They have a lot of turnover with their security officers.

Pros

If you want lots of hours, this is the place to work. I am currently part-time, as I am a full-time student. They try to squeeze more and more hours out of me every week, and have no consideration that I switched to part time for a reason. And yes, they know about me being a full-time student. However, they did give me the post I wanted, as it is very close by to where I live and it pays better than most other posts. The pay in general isn't bad, and is better than what most other companies will offer. I'll give them that.

Cons

If you expect to rise up the ranks here, it's not happening. Don't get your hopes up. I'm only working here to help get myself through college, and I would take another job in a heartbeat, so long as it pays better. Favoritism rules here. The schedules are also very unstable, except for usually the people who have been working there forever. This is NOT the type of place you want to establish a career in. Move on, and do better for yourself!
