Pros

Great teamwork across departments. Ability to laugh at the terrible. Department heads worked together for decades to create a livable experience for employees.

Cons

There was a lot of terrible. Cleaning up all sorts of things from the homeless, from drugs to bodily fluids to thawed fish found under pillows. Having to smell the drugs being smoked in the bathroom would leave me with headaches for the rest of the day. Employees were fired for confronting the homeless.

Good Luck.

Pros

Inclusive culture, discounts, health benefits

Cons

Hours are given on the front end by seniority, so if you are new good luck getting yours and your shifts will be random to cover gaps for employees with seniority. Extreme favoritism. Management at my store was caught illegally discounting each other's merchandise by 80 to 90 percent for years, yet lower employees are written up for calling out legitimately.

Decent Job, but Management Needs Improvement

Pros

Working at Fred Meyer has some positives, like flexible scheduling, steady hours, and opportunities to move into different departments.

Cons

However, one of the biggest downsides is management. In some stores, the managers are not professional in the way they treat employees. Workers have reported that managers can be rude, dismissive, or disrespectful, especially when the store is busy or short-staffed. Instead of offering guidance or support, they may talk down to employees or ignore concerns, which creates a stressful and uncomfortable work environment. Communication can also feel inconsistent, leading to confusion and frustration.
