Pros

Nationwide chain (Kroger Co) Easily transfer to other parts of the country. Tution reimbursement. Diversity of people and culture that work here. Diversity of jobs avaliable.

Cons

Discord in equality of pay. Compensation does not keep up with inflation. Good old boy culture, another words if you are not part of the club then you dont get the promotion. Many redundant process, too much fat at the top. Actually listing to the stores about what the customer wants. To much talk at not enough action. Paying attention to the bottom line and not the people that make the money.

Pros

Competitive pay, benefits available to more than just full time employees, and the work itself can be fun enough at times. Work/Life balance is decent, if not exceptional.

Cons

Kroger higher-ups are getting way more involved in running Fred Meyer, despite clearly not understanding the customer demographic of FM. Changes are being made with no logic/explanation to back them up, and management on every level seems confused and incapable of communicating these changes to employees. Customers are getting unhappy, yet nothing seems to be done. Management is being restructured and expanded, forcing the promotion of underqualified individuals to management jobs.

Was an easy, well paying first job.

Pros

Lots of good people to meet that worked there, genuine and kind. It was not too hard to jump pay grade too; if you worked full time, you could get your first pay rais in 1-2 months depending on your entering position. Good benifits.

Cons

some of the higher up's that would come into work full time are not exactly fair when it comes to getting full on promotions or even time off. certain jobs max out pay raises at a certain level, so if you invest too much time into a lower position it could make it really hard to get a full on promotion to a better one aside from just the pay raises. The store directore is a harsh man to get along with, he always talks condisendingly towards people he is not friends with. I've tried conversating with him while on break but he is the same way, talking back to you as if you would not underdstand what he is saying in the first place.
