Pros
Incredible career progression opportunities, working alongside talented and dedicated colleagues. A supportive environment where success was celebrated together and no challenge was ever faced alone. The customer was at the heart of everything we did, and there was a genuine desire (from top to bottom) to continually improve the experience for the end user while creating a safe environment for them to spend time in. In its heyday, Sky Betting and Gaming made the industry better, leading by example with both the employee and customer experience. A former Managing Director said on his first day that he wanted SBG to be the best place we have ever worked and, for a time, his ambition was realised.
Cons
The culture of SBG changed markedly when it became part of the Flutter group. While still a challenging and progressive environment, the focus shifted somewhat from people to efficiency and commercial performance. As a publicly listed business, this was to be expected, but for those used to the SBG days, it certainly felt like a step backwards and some of the magic was lost. Relocating roles overseas had a huge impact on people and many of those that contributed to the success of SBG had no choice but to leave the business they helped create.
