Large Revenue, Low GM, Arbitrage driven company fighting for pennies against Chinese (especially)

Pros

Large Scale, Reach and Thin Margin company. If you are in to PCB, Plastics, Mechanical and Bending Metals - This is the place for you. Treats employees well and compassionate.

Cons

Large EMS companies treat employees as dispensable and like a factory worker (Layoff is way of life within the walls of this company). Not a place for development engineer. No innovation, management is interested in arbirtrage of component buying to shore up 3% profit with huge revenue but slim Gross Margin when compared to Google, CISCO.

Pros

Flextronics offers the opportunity to get your foot in the door of the electronic industry as well as be part of an enormous organization with a worldwide foot print.

Cons

Communication is not one of the strong suits and team work is absolutely misunderstood. Unfortunately being a contract manufacturer you have to look for cost reductions and compete for the last penny on the table. It's like being at the mercy of the OEM's.
