Pros

Flex is one of if not the largest contract manufacturing company in the world. The company takes great pride in its employees. The benefit package is very good, and the salary is competitive. Because the company is so large and varied it is possible to move to different positions without having to leave the company. Management is proactive and I believe they are incentivized to promote their staff members to higher positions.

Cons

The primary con, is that the company is so large that sometimes you can get lost and forgotten about. It is hard to make a name for yourself or to get your accomplishments recognized by the right people.

Not a place I'd want to go back to.

Pros

Interesting projects to work on. Projects have variety and potential is there to work on important devices. Good benefits package.

Cons

Some managers can be nasty. Think they can assign as much work as they want. Not interested in your health/safety/life. Planning for projects is poor. Willing to underbid and make employees work overtime to makeup for the shortcomings of the bid process.

Pros

You get to fix Apple laptops and IBM laptops etc. Great for building your repair skills whether you're an experienced repair tech or not.

Cons

Very stressful numbers based environment. The requirement is to fix a unit every 45 mins. This includes post repair testing at your desk. You either run Apple Toolkit for the Macbooks or PC Doctor for Windows based laptops. These tests take a good 10 to 15 mins to run. So realistically you only have 30 mins per unit. This includes doing an inventory of the unit, taking notes of condition etc...so actual repair time is less than that. If you don't meet these numbers you get written up and eventually fired. Doesn't matter how good you fix your units. They care about numbers. If you have any experience with being in repair depots, you know that you have good days and bad days. Your good days consist of things going as planned. Your bad days consist of getting bad parts. Having multiple failures show up after the original repair etc. Seems like you have more things working against you than for you. It wouldn't be so bad if the pay was there but in my area they paid the lowest amount out of all the repair depots. $11 a hour.
