Pros

Nice culture. Interesting work. Good work, life balance. Free health club membership (or did in 2008) gives you an idea of the perks. People would go work out at lunchtime. Lots of on-going classes on various topics and development available throughout the year. Got more stressful during the crisis - busier and several rounds of layoffs were upsetting.

Cons

Depends on manager of course, but review process was disturbing. Lots of turnover as the company way too stingy on promotions. Many people left as they felt demoralized and/or wanted to earn more money at other financial firms that pay much more. But of course you work much harder at the companies that pay more so I am surprised many who jumped ship didn't factor that in. High turnover left the company wanting on experience in some groups.

Pros

Work Life Balance is a plus as is the employee benefits program. The people are nice to work with.

Cons

Too much concern on the immediate and no long term plan. The work force was cut during the slump and as a consequence the work load has increased. They seem to be mired in the days of the three martini lunch in some aspects of management. It's like top management got their MBAs in the 1960s and never looks past that time.

Pros

Fitch respects work/life balance, which can be unusual in the finance sector. The management hierarchy is flat (though recently there has been additional depth added) which can be refreshing.

Cons

Over the last several years, morale has fallen significantly because of the the high level of attention and criticism of the business model, yet no where near as much attention paid to the quality of research.
