Pros

Good work life balance. Some nice people work here (they are often those who are down the work ladder and definitely not senior management). Nice benefit package.

Cons

Hard work is not rewarded even though the company is faring better and the final crisis has been stabilised. Petty compensation is given and salary rise is below inflation rate. If you are looking for career progressing or fair reward for your hard work, this is not the place to work for. This way of thinking is now common in the company and you have to leave if you want decent salary rise per year. We were also never told the overall profits made this year, which I guess is fair to hide so as not to raise questions given that management has not evenly distributed through compensation.

Pros

Very good place for recent graduates and experienced hires with in-depth knowledge of a specific industry. Good experience in learning how to use financial models, present to committees, and write industry reports.

Cons

It can be extremely political place to work. Promotions and recognition are often based on relationships not on professional skills and aptitude. Junior and experienced analysts often leave to get higher pay and recognition at Wall Street firms. Office locations outside of NY can be a disadvantage for experienced hires. They are often not really included in key client accounts or strategic initiatives.
