Pros

I have known Shawn Meaike for years. I joined him early on, as I believed in his vision and idea. Four years later I am still here! Why? The culture of this company is second to none. From Shawn to the new hire are here to work. We all believe in each other, and everyone is interested in helping one another. If one succeeds, we all succeed. I am thrilled I chose to be part of this company that is so forward thinking.

Cons

I have no cons to report. It's been four great years of my career.

Pros

You are your own boss!

Cons

My experience began on December 2018. I was excited to get things going as I was really looking forward to new growth. I took my exam, I got my fingerprints, I got my supplies, I got my E&O Insurance (which I’m still paying monthly for today), I got contracted, and I booked my hotel and flight for Vegas as national convention came closer. At convention I knew my goal was to help as many people as possible. After I came home from convention I was fired from my job because they didn’t like what I was doing, I knew this was a risk but I knew the best things in life happen outside of your comfort zone. However, my up line stopped responding to me when I told him that since I had no money because I spent most of it during the contracting/convention. I felt really discouraged, but I knew it was a process. (I had already spent around $400 in leads and gone into homes) It took me a month or so to find another job. During April/May 2019 I decided to give it another go because I truly believed in Family First Life. Here in Houston I didn’t have anybody nearby that could truly help me or mentor me since my upline was hundreds of miles away and told me not to contact him after 5pm ET while I got off work at 6pm CT. Regardless, I was buying leads, I was dialing and going into homes whenever I could as I was doing this part time. During that month I invested $2300 worth of leads and I didn’t make a single cent. At this point I knew something was wrong, I spent my entire savings and I was burnt out. I was hopeless. I contacted corporate via email and they paired me with another up line 10mins away from me here in Houston. He contacted me and asked for my producer #’s to transfer them over and I also asked him If I could be placed on a lead assistance program. I never received a response after that day on June 14th. At the end of the day, I gave it my best and I truly believe I fit the “All In” mentality that Family First Life is all about, and I still didn’t receive the help that would lead to writing a single policy or making a cent into what I invested. I felt cheated and let down. Slowly, FFL stopped being the life changing career I thought it would be. My advice for beginners make sure you work with somebody that actually cares about you and make sure you learn quickly so you’re not dependent on anybody. Unfortunately I never got to write a single policy, so I wasn’t able to help anybody out much less myself.

This review is filled with false claims in regards to what happened with this agent. We are aware of this situation and we know who the agent is. This agent has tried to work with a few different FFL VPs and put little to effort in on their end. The first VP that was working with the agent flew from PA to TX to personally train the agent and help them get going after the convention during the time that the agent claims the VP stopped responding to him. All of our leads are filled out by someone that is actively looking for insurance so the only way that an agent can not make sales off of $2,300 in leads is by not actually working the leads. Which is what happened in this situation. After not making a sale and not due to not actually working the leads the agent wanted another VP to purchase leads for him after he proved that he was unwilling to work his own leads. Commission based sales is not for everyone and at FFL we are upfront about that. This unfortunately was a case of an individual expecting massive results with little action.

Pros

Good community, but respective to your direct upline, and VP

Cons

- Negatively fast-paced by encouraging agents to buy leads, which are not a good fit and long term sustainable - Negatively teaches agent to take advanced which is not good as agent lives on borrowed income, and mismanages clientele, and thus mostly cannot be equipped to handle chargebacks - Terrible express simplified issue products that are pushed onto every clientele - Culture is to work 24/7 and thus causes burn out and mishandling of finances. - MLM only benefits the top

What's very confusing about the "cons" that this individual listed is that most of these are aspects of our business that are marketed so that every agent working with us is informed of how our business model works. As far as leads go, yes we do conduct a lead based sale and thousands of agents have success in buying leads and writing business off of them. This is something that we talk about in our marketing and when an agent joins us. We do not teach agents to take an advance on their policies, that decision is up to the agent. All carriers allow you to choose from taking an advance or contracting as earned. If you really believe taking an advanced commission is somehow negative you can elect to be paid as earned. We do sell mostly simplified issue products, they are not "pushed" on every client however every client fills out a form or applies online to an advertisement for a non-medical simplified issue product so we are selling them exactly what they are looking for. Our culture is not to work 24/7 but we have learned that agents working 40 hours a week in sales with us have the most success. As far as "only benefiting the top" that could not be further from the truth. Our comp program is the most aggressive in the industry, it was designed to allow the agents to keep as much money as possible from their sales. We do this by vesting renewals day one, and having our comp plan go from 100-140%
