FFL changed my life.

Pros

There is no cap to how much you can earn and no limit to how quickly you can get started. Family First has changed my life on so many levels. The team is more than a team they are family. Training is wonderful. I knew nothing about this business when I started and through the unlimited training I feel equipped to help my clients and answer any questions thrown my way. I highly recommend this company. The company has come a long way in the two years that I have been with them. Lead sources have gotten more plentiful as have all other resources.

Cons

The only cons to this is the agents inability to be motivated with out a clock to punch. This job is not for just anyone. My guess is that all that have complained about FFL do not have the work ethic that this type job takes or they are set in their ways and unable to learn from and copy the tried and true ways of top producers. I don't know how it could be a pyramid scheme as I spend very little on leads and haven't hired anyone in two years yet I am making money.

Pros

If you are experienced in the industry and can weed out the intense marketing and actually understand what you are getting, they might be for you. You aren't forced to do anything, so as long as you keep the independent mindset you can create your own schedule. Most of the trainings are recorded so you can watch/listen as you wish.

Cons

When they tell you your comp level, it is not that easy. Each product they sell has a different comp, so when they say 100% that may mean you are still getting paid 50% or 70% on what you sell. Chargebacks are inevitable and can easily become an issue because they encourage you to take advances instead of the secure amount of money that you've actually earned. You can go into debt QUICKLY. They say they are not a pyramid scheme because they don't charge for training but they are. There is extreme pressure to hire 'downlines' because anyone above you gets paid on the business they write. Despite selling this career and company as a place that values families, taking vacation is highly discouraged along with taking off holidays and personal days. Agents are regularly recognized for not taking a day off the entire year. Most of the training you receive is in the form of previously recorded videos and conference calls. If you have an office near you that has training I'd go to it, however the office that is near you may not be your team. Offices hire agents who are across the country, and the office near you may not have a manager that is successful or willing to train people that they aren't making money from. Overall it's not a great place for a person who has just got their license.

Thank you for your review. Our compensation ranges from 100%-140% through our top carriers and we always train our agents to write those products whenever possible. If an agent was frequently receiving a reduced commission then they would be intentionally writing inferior products that we never recommended. You are correct in stating that chargebacks are an inevitable part of being an insurance agent. However, we do not push our agents to take advancements. Most agents choose to take an advance so that they can support themselves and their families. But if an agent wants to be placed "As Earned" we have absolutely no issue with that. Our agents get paid directly by the carriers and FFL never touches a commission. Your statement about FFL putting pressure on our agents to hire is simply false. We have thousands of agents that work independently and have no intention to ever build an agency. If someone would like to take advantage of building a residual income we're there to help them, but we don't bother anyone who's not interested in that aspect of the business. Your statement about personal days/holidays is also completely false. Our agents are all independent contractors not W-2 employees. Therefore, they are the ones who are in complete control of their schedule which includes taking time off to pursue whatever they'd like to in life. In regards to our training yes we do make it possible for any agent to attend a local office even if it's not run by the person who hired them. All of our agencies follow the same training system so this allows us to hire agents from any part of the country. We have not had any reports of managers being unwilling to help an agent on a different team so that statement is fabricated. FFL cares deeply about the success of each of our agents, and if these were real obstacles and problems that an agent was facing they would be swiftly resolved if brought to our attention. Unfortunately, sometimes people would rather find excuses for why they didn't have success instead of real solutions. We wish you the best with your future endeavors.

Pros

You can easily get into insurance sales.

Cons

Appears to by MLM which is fine but there seems to be a fair amount of misinformation this company doles out on insurance commissions. And as I've always said, when you have a company that emphasizes downline, individual production can go by the wayside.
