Pros

It is the best career a person could ever want -- but you have to have the right temperament and aptitude. You'll know pretty quick if you're up for the challenge. If you can deal with the pressures, you will not find a more rewarding and satisfying job anywhere!

Cons

It makes an old man/woman out of you. You work for the federal government which is famous promoting people based on everything but their ability.

Pros

The pros working at the agency are the job benefits, teleworking, close to the metro, job security and really nothing else.

Cons

I don't know where to begin. What surprise me the most is the lack of basic computer skills by the engineers. Most of them delegate thier responsibilities to contractors. Most of the managers are not equipped to lead and manage people. They need to work on their interpersonal skills. When things go wrong, no one is held accountable but the blame should go to the union rather than the agency because they made it impossible for managers to fire poor performers. When things are not getting done, the people that perform well have to carry the load while being underpaid. If you are young, this agency is not ideal to start your career unless you want to become a ATC, inspector or technician.

Pros

great benefits, job security, constant training that will stack your resume (i've spent most of my first year in OKC training).

Cons

pay could be a bit better. managers need to screen applicants better...i have more experience in my field and started at the lowest of the low, while people who have never done electronic tech type of work, started significantly higher. Also, I've had friends who told me straight up that they didnt have an interview process or anything; were just given the job due to veterans preference. You'll spend most of your first 3 years traveling back and forth to Oklahoma City for training. if traveling or being away from your family is a con, then that's a con. there's little room for moving up the ladder...theres only 3 pay scales (F-G-H), unless you want to become a coordinator, manager, or instructor in Oklahoma.
