Pros

Friendly environment, highly educated staff, diverse mission, possibility of moving across the country and world, good location on metro and downtown.

Cons

Overly bureaucratic, very large staff so it is difficult to know everyone in your field, sometimes silos workers, headquarters building is rather decrepit, hard to move up payscale.

Downsides present at the FAA are long hours and promotions can be stalled due to congress and decisions on budget
