Pros

Pay scale isn't rigid (you can fight for a pay raise and expect that to get you somewhere); agency pay increases annually;

Cons

You have to fight for any flexibility; promotions or advancement almost literally comes by walking over the dead body of your predecessor. HR can and has screwed people over, and there's little people can do about it. Despite the website, they don't yet have tuition reimbursement. Only way you get work/life balance is by making sure you have it. You have to ask for every single perk you get.
