Pros

Great pay and benefits! Company matches 7% when you put in 6% into savings plan. You get more time off than with regular jobs and can swap your holidays giving you even more days.. I get about 5-6 weeks off a year. Company truly values employees and tries to take care of them. Really great reputation!

Cons

Shift work which might be hard on some people but I love it! Job is not for the accident prone.

Management is really inept

Pros

Salary is good. Bonus is more or less fixed. Benefits are good. There is a lot of emphasis on safety.

Cons

Management at the lowest level at least is generally inept, especially at managing the people they oversea. The ones promoted into management from NMPT are mostly yes-men, who don't rock the boat at the expense of the staff they oversea. The ones who do challenge the system to improve the workings of the company are overlooked for protons and kept at the bottom where they will "cause the least trouble". Impossible to plan and take leave due to shift schedule, and there is no room for negotiation, even when there is a surplus of staff, leave will only be approved at the last minute in case anyone takes medical leave. Non- management staff are treated like children and are punished freely using warning letters, delays in promotion, withholding pay increments, performance bonus. Frequently non-management staff are made to take the fall for plant failures. Safety is encouraged but are too stifling, making it difficult to get any job done. At the junior management level safety is only implemented as a farce and not believed in by lower management who push such initiatives by higher management just so they don't seem to be troublemakers. Bad place to work, all the good staff leave.
