Everybody's getting outsourced to Costa Rica

Pros

Bagels are provided on Wednesday. The new vending machine on the first floor has great hummus & microwavable white castle cheeseburgers. Coffee is free.

Cons

All of the client services jobs were outsourced to Costa Rica. Dozens (or maybe even hundreds) of people were laid off. The company has a lot of top clients because it's been around for so long that it's well known and well respected, but the reputation is no longer deserved, and is just a holdover from the early years. The quality developers have been recruited away by Google and the like, which has left them with a lack of historical knowledge of the app. The jury is still out on the new CCMP platform, but it's been rumored to not yet be functional as anything other than an ESP. With everyone getting laid off, there will be a massive gap in account knowledge. The clients are in for a nasty surprise in the next few months.

Pros

There is a good culture of going out with colleagues, free coke and weekly lunch is about the only good thing about working here.

Cons

As the title suggests low pay compared to industry standards poor training and terrible management. Often managers will micro manage every aspect of your work and will be completely non technical even though they are managing technical teams, meaning you will spend more time explaining what you need to do than actually doing it.

Pros

You are exposed to a variety of firms through client interactions and developing solutions to help them. Lots of great people at the company and I learned a lot from them. The project work was interesting and rewarding.

Cons

The culture is horrible- constantly facing layoffs and offshoring of jobs to other countries lacking the necessary skills. We had furlough days where HR forbid employees to work but everyone still worked those days without pay because they were afraid of losing their job. Hard to get promotions and raises unless you could "walk on water". Resources and funding for internal infrastructure were hard to get so technical systems were outdated.
