Pros

Interesting projects Some good people at the top May be starting to realize their mistakes from five years ago

Cons

Soooo ran by sales, not consulting No career planning, so limited in career progression opportunities Lack of sustained game-changing projects Seem to lose bids at a much higher rate than winning

Pros

Learned a lot about different industries. Presidents club was always a good time.

Cons

Constantly felt undervalued and disposable. Apex executed massive layoffs, cutting incredibly tenured and high-performing employees not based on performance, but purely to desperately salvage their stock price for the third year in a row. No consideration for the long-term impact or the people left picking up the pieces. It’s all about numbers. Doesn’t matter how much pipeline you build or how many doors you open. If deals don’t close immediately, leadership treats you like dead weight and isn’t subtle about it. Daily micromanagement and pressure make it impossible to feel anything but behind. We’d lose business left and right to competitors who weren’t held back by ridiculous internal guidelines that deemed solid opportunities “not worth supporting.” Apparently, it’s not good enough for us, but good enough for everyone else to fill and make money on. Makes sense. The so-called “consulting services” offering is a joke unless you have an exclusive, multiple openings, and a unicorn candidate already lined up. Otherwise, forget it. You’re on your own. And don’t even bother trying to loop in an SME for a client call. If they show up at all, they’re unprepared and it’s embarrassing in front of your clients. Worst part? Talking to other AMs. The burnout is real. Everyone’s exhausted, discouraged, and actively job searching. It’s honestly depressing.
