Pros
*Generous employee discount *Majority of coworkers are competent and friendly (right now they are vastly overqualified due to few jobs in the area) *Vast majority of shoppers love shopping here *Easy to get time off *If you know how to do your job you are left alone to do it - no micromanagement *Majority of work is not stressful *Get to sample food etc. from other countries
Cons
*Explorer rewards program and its importance to the company not mentioned in interview *Cant get a promotion unless Explorer enrollment is consistently above 25% *Your Explorer enrollment is valued above the quality of your other job duties *High turnover *Cant get a raise based on your individual merit - employees told that raises were frozen until stores numbers (items sold per transaction) were higher (How much control do I have over this?) *Hours per week and times vary when you are part time *Part-time associates not allowed to review supervisors, gm and co-workers *No communication from gm on how store/chain is doing financially *Training is non-existent *Too much is expected of gm yet has little real power to make decisions - must defer to district manager etc. *Cliques form with gm and supervisors that have been together too long resulting in some supervisors not doing their work and gm not disciplining them. *Lack of safety standards in warehouse * No opportunities to learn and grow as an employee
