Pros

The pay is decent depending on your territory. At least you have a base pay so you aren’t totally screwed. The last couple of years have been a slap in the face for bonuses. They even said ‘inside sales makes too much money’ and now they’re laying people off and shrunk the amount of positions. And then carol tome comes in and starts ‘trimming fat’, by reshaping the organization so shareholders and herself make money. Great job doubling the stock price but at what cost? You lost a lot of fantastic employees. Management is ok depending on what team you are on. Expect micromanaging after a few months after starting. You can make the company a million dollars a year but if you don’t make a certain amount of ‘dials’ they will call you out. They will tell you that you can ‘run the territory how you want’ but give you a list to call. Then they will ask you why you aren’t calling the list. Frustrating, typical corporate structure. Most of the people are great but it’s very corporate like and the managers cannot do anything besides what corporate says. They will tell you to do something one week and the process is totally different the next. Wait til you find out about VC leads. Boy those are a pain. Who wants to call a customer 5 times in one day and send 2 emails? Talk about harassment. Anyways, try to get out of here ASAP. Go for an AE or corporate career, better yet go somewhere else

Cons

If customers stop shipping with UPS then it hurts your bonus even though you can’t do anything about it. DAP will take your accounts, the ‘realignments’ will take your accounts, both of which will hurt your bonus. You are required to make a certain amount of dials per day amongst other customer service things but this doesn’t directly impact your bonus. You have to cater to your higher performing customers so they don’t leave, but once they do too good you’ll lose them to an AE. I really think this position will be eliminated in the next couple of years. Customers can just open a DAP account and get better discounts than what we can offer. Our job is pointless after that. Good luck!

Pros

The pay is excellent .health care is 100 % paid with 100 %coverage...with exception to eye and dental which is about 70%..coverage...pension is outstanding..full package with wages and benefits is worth 130,000 yearly..without a college education I am grateful for the standard of living UPS HAS AFFORDED ME AND MY FAMILY!...and with 27 years of service I now get 6 weeks vacation with 8 sick days..and 9 paid holidays...we work hard like many people in the work force but we are well compensated!.

Cons

The only con is while your children are young you give up a lot of family time..I never got to watch my kids play sports and missed a lot of their growing years...the job can be hard on your home life but if you can make it through those years you and your family will enjoy the financial freedom that UPS provides...and now I look forward to a prosperous retirement!...so hang in there all you young drivers...
