Good policies and mission, but practice is variable, depending on office management. Heavy bureaucracy. - Nutritionist UNICEF Employee Review

Pros

Admirable mission in Child Rights. International standards in terms of leave days/year (~6 weeks plus 10d holidays, 6 months maternity leave and 3-4? months paternity leave). For the most part - very dedicated and diverse teams (gender, nationality) and skilled, intelligent colleagues.

Cons

Extremely bureaucratic processes. Political considerations as a multi-lateral representing member states often weakens actions and speaking out on child rights. Management is very variable depending on each office's leadership. Can be amazing or an absolute nightmare.

Pros

Working at the UN was an amazing experience, being able to take part in such a significant mission was great.

Cons

As I was not a full-time volunteer and was also responsible for fundraising in my territory, I felt that I did not receive the same treatment as the other volunteers. It was a challenging role and experience, and at times it felt like my well-being was not fully considered.
