Pros

-Great working environment with a multifunctional team that is made up of all staff members, -Every department is directly linked therefore you are exposed to all areas of the operation. - High reputation, Opportunity to meet people from different cultures.

Cons

-National staff (even if you come from a different province) have less perks and benefits, No flight paid for you to go to the province where you will work, no security for the house, no R&R, for Nationals you only get your salary. -The rotation of international staff, mostly every 2 years can also be annoying. -Very bureaucratic, which can lead to slow pace of work

Pros

Good benefits, you really do help people

Cons

Human Resources takes a highly specialized approach to talent management. In that you cannot really change functions easily in UNHCR. You have to hyper-specialize in one area. So if you are a protection staff, you tend to burn out from trauma without an internal mechanism to alleviate the burnout. The higher you go in UNHCR, the crazier you become.
