Pros

I used to always say that the people were the best part of this company, intelligent, inclusive, and driven. However, in the last couple of years almost all of those people have left or been laid off, including me, and I can't say that I am too sorry about that.

Cons

Round after round of layoffs over two years have left the company terribly unstable. What used to be a great company culture has degraded as a result of all the uncertainly, budget cuts, benefits cuts, pay freezes, and firing. There has also been some shady stuff that caused a major lack of distrust in the company, They introduced a bonus program which never pays out because the company can't hit its targets, but took away some salary to do so. They introduced a utilization policy which basically cripples anyone in a technical role from pursuing the technology excellence which they claim is the backbone of the company. There are senior leaders there making a ton of money who clearly are not equipped to run this company successfully but never seem to be affected by the "restructuring" needed to drive "savings." There are really toxic pockets in the company right now, probably due to the stressful atmosphere, but no one takes complaints seriously, pointing back to the weirdness around leadership being protected from the consequences. I would advise anyone looking into joining this company right now to wait a little while and see whether it turns around, it is definitely not a place you can count on for a steady paycheck right now.

Pros

I've had a great experience building my career at Thoughtworks. One of the things that stands out most is the culture. It's collaborative, supportive, and filled with people who genuinely want to help each other succeed. Thoughtworks has also provided me with meaningful opportunities for career growth. I've been encouraged to take on new challenges, develop new skills, and explore different career paths. Leaders have been approachable and supportive, and I've always felt empowered to own my development rather than being confined to a single role. Like any organization, we’ve had our ups and downs. But the people and the commitment to continuous learning have remained consistent strengths. If you're looking for a place where you can grow professionally, work with smart and passionate people, and be part of a culture that values collaboration and innovation, Thoughtworks is a great place to build your career.

Cons

None that I can think of right now.
