Pros

Strong mission-driven culture 12% retirement contribution Strong friendships and camaraderie Excellence learning & development resources (trainings & conferences) Lots of lateral growth (not so much upward unless you want to be an Executive Director or C-Suite) Free membership & discounts on some programs and services Majority of staff are passionate about their work and the Y

Cons

Extreme burnout from wearing multiple hats and/or if you are the only person who knows how to do something Red tape and culture of "this is how we've always done things" Low wages No remote work flexibility Toxic positivity Everything is treated like an emergency/urgent Org is afraid to take a stand on social justice issues Doesn't take staff safety seriously

Excellent opportunities to connect with folks from different backgrounds, communities, etc. Wonderful opportunities to learn, and continue to learn important skills such life saving skills. Opportunities to help people in the community. Lasting impact on people for a lifetime

Cons

Inconsistency, favoritism, constant change no one can keep up with, no empathy, no respect, no communication, toxic work environment, enabling the behavior of others while requiring regular trainings on work place harassment and actions that don’t match the company mission of healthy mind body and spirit.
