They’ll overwork you, you have to fight for an office day. Clients frequently upset because you don’t have time to work their cases. Barely time to review files for next day. You have to input all your time and activities. No in house investigator so if the case needs investigation, client has to pay for that as well and they get upset because they thought it was covered by the retainer. Its all about the money. Intake makes promises that they shouldn’t just to get clients to sign retainers. Paralegals aren’t real paralegals, they’re secretaries. You don’t control your own calendar. LA emails your daily calendar late afternoon the day before, sometimes morning of. They’ve been sued by former attorneys for a reason - two cases are still pending in Los Angeles County. There’s a youtube video with attorney Heather Monasky talking about all these problems. Her lawsuit settled but all the problems she discusses still exist. Employees are paid to write positive reviews! Benefits are just ok, no 401k contributions either. Management refuses to make any changes. Staff and attorneys come and go. No room for advancement.
