Pros
- Teams are run very effectively throughout the organization. I have worked at other tech companies where the engineering experience from one team to another was drastically different. At Target, although the projects and priorities of teams may be different, the culture, work-life balance and effectiveness of teams seems to be a lot more universal regardless of what team you are on. - Empowering engineers to build solutions and solve problems with the support of a well evolved suite of homegrown solutions for taking your code from POC to production quickly. - Laser focused priorities. The most important things are being worked on. - Inclusivity is at the heart of the culture. They don't just talk about it, they live and breath it. - Advancement is clearly defined and there are engineering expectations that every engineer are measured against when being considered for a promotion.
Cons
- Limited opportunities to make the jump from Sr. Engineer to Team Lead or Engineering Manager although to be fair, it is mostly due to the deep pool of strong talent
