Pros

I haven't met a single person here who I even mildly dislike - there's a real sense of camaraderie at Silva: everyone has a great sense of humour and even the exec board members are approachable! Silva Homes is a housing association that has set its sights high. We're aiming to modernise to the extent that by the end of 2021, our customers get a much better service AND colleagues can focus on doing more skilled and important work (e.g. no more hand printing and delivering thousands of letters to customers). It's a genuinely exciting time to work here, and there's a real sense that every individual can make a difference. Despite not being in a customer-facing role, I feel like what I'm doing makes a difference - coming from the technology sector, Silva Homes is like a breath of fresh air. Our personal hours/demands are respected and flexi-time and home-working are popular options.

Cons

Situated in quite an industrial area - there are a few cafés nearby and a great greasy spoons, but not much else. There is a lovely pond nearby though!

Cons

While Silva Homes has many positive aspects, there were some challenges that outweighed the pros. Communication was often poor, leaving us feeling like we were the last to know about important updates. During the merger with Abri, things became increasingly difficult, with a noticeable shift towards micromanagement and a growing sense of toxicity within the workplace. This led to heavier workloads and a decline in overall morale. At times, it felt like there was a 'big boys club' mentality, and I personally experienced a sense of being undervalued. There was also clear favouritism by management, which further contributed to feelings of exclusion and inequality among staff
