Pros

good flexibility, managers are nice and understanding when you can actually get in touch with them

Cons

pay is OK, fairly low especially for the amount of time you actually have to be on duty/on your feet, and very low for a position with handcuffs where you apprehend shoplifters. No camera access which makes the job harder, NO vacation time, they say they offer PTO but it’s just state mandated sick time. Management is very unresponsive at times and a little abrasive when they do communicate. You will be working with security guards who are making $6/hr more than you to do NOTHING while you are expected to apprehend shoplifters by yourself. Good starting point for someone with no experience. You will be working by yourself with nobody to talk to and on your feet while security guards who get paid more sit and chat with each other all day.

Pros

Flexibility, manager is decent, you can work alone

Cons

Bad pay, no PTO even though they say there is, it’s just state mandated sick time which you will have to use if you want any time off. No communication from management or security personnel, you will be on your own completely. Management won’t even inform you when a big theft occurred in your absence. You will be the LOWEST paid person in the building aside from the security people paid $2 less which is rare to see. Manager will often ignore texts and emails
