So if your manager, director or whatever, doesn't take the time to recognize your contribution, you will never be noticed. In addition, there is a lot of red tape. I also felt that when I worked hard to finish the project, the overall expectation became that I worked that hard all the time. Where as other employees who slacked off, often had less responsibilities. I felt at times I was almost punished for working harder and more efficiently.
