Promotion practices favor mediocrity over high performers - Principal Scientist Sanofi Employee Review

Pros

None, just okay I guess

Cons

Questionable promotion practices and internal equity. Multiple people in a reporting line get promoted at the same time. Other people are forced to “wait your turn” because you can’t be promoted until your boss is promoted. Yet other mediocre performers get promoted simply for being a “solid contributor”. What about the people who overperform, are leaders, and dedicate 60 hrs a week to keep impossible projects on time? Yeah those get ignored.

Pros

Good benefits (9% 401k match, company car, solid insurance). Huge company with many therapeutic areas you can choose from. I like my coworkers.

Cons

Employee stock purchase plan is nice in theory, but stock has treaded water for many years. A very big company with lots of big pharma metrics to meet. Pay is maybe slightly below industry average.

Pros

The company has an excellent, very collegial atmosphere. Employees are supported well and there is excellent support for most processes from numerous line functions.

Cons

Some processes as well as the governance structure can be a bit confusing. More so than other large pharma companies. But even with this. There are almost always enough people who know how to get things done.
