The company is an absolute mess. From upper management, to inside store operations. Store hours for employees are not guaranteed, and there’s no such thing as a full week vacation time for sales associates. Your promised a certain amount of hours per week, then they go against their word and the paperwork documenting such. The company has unrealistically high expectations of sales associates, considering each store has roughly 3-5 employees (including management) and morning shifts are typically manned by 1 employee until another employee comes in much later in the afternoon. The company culture has changed so much just in the few years I’ve been there, I’m beginning to think they’re scrambling around for last minute ideas to keep themselves afloat. Any time one of their “ideas” fail, the blame is sent down to the sales associate. Their marketing team drops the ball every month, which requires the employees to redact certain sale offers given to their customer base. Then the employees get to deal with the backlash. The shelf talkers that display which products are on sale alongside others are so poorly written, expect to be yelled at by customers who demand their own perspective of what the sale means. Then when you follow policy, expect to be told to do the opposite when customers call customer service and they tell them you were wrong. All in all, if you’d like to retain the little bit of sanity and common sense you have left, I’d advise against working for Sally Beauty.

Loved working around beauty products.

Cons

Upper management and pay are horrible. Liked most co workers but some extremely lazy. Hair color training is lacking and the only thing they care about is sales, not a care if you mess someone’s hair up.
