Pros

Nice office and exposure to events

Cons

Beware! Behind the glorified stuff shown on media are slaves working for shein. Lack of basic human respect for hardworking employees, management only care about results and even people who are passionate about their work are demoralised just solely because how employees are treated here. Unrealistic expectations are placed upon employees despite how good they are, there’s no way one can get job fulfilment as all they want is more and more and more! Toxicity is very real, it is very hard to thrive in this bad environment because after a while here all you want is OUT! Things won’t change unless management is changed. Management has zero trust in employees, shortsighted and not capable to lead. There’s no clear direction and internal structure keeps changing due to the high turnover. Most importantly, management does NOT see this as a problem and improve. Always quoting “lack of headcount” as a reason, team is severely understaffed despite the turnover and expect same level of results with the remaining staff, resulting in a vicious cycle of leaving and hiring. Career progression is non-existent, however, if you’re ready to slave 997, this place might be okay for you! Workplace benefits are not competitive at all. Every backend system, reports and communication tools are in chinese for a “globalised” company, be prepared for communications and reporting in mostly Chinese. 100% DO NOT recommend.

Pros

The company was growing pretty fast and had a startup like pace, until the tariffs happened. SHEIN’s pace slowed down a lot and the company pivoted to cost optimization

Cons

1) company’s leadership, especially the US leadership lacks vision and creates a toxic work culture by constantly belittling people in open and yelling at them. 2) the small group of top leaders almost behave like high school bullies colluding with each other 3) you’ll struggle to survive, let alone succeed, if you don’t speak Chinese. 4) Sheins compensation is significantly below industry peers 5) Daily late night calls with the China team mean a non existent work life balance. You are expected to be available at all times, including late night and weekends
